19 Towns, 24 venues, nearly 5000 people involved… These are some of the figures of MIC2015 one of the most well-known youth football tournaments of the World.
The opening Ceremony of the 15th Edition of MIC will see a parade of flag bearers from more than 200 clubs registered in the competition which will be held at Palamos Stadium. The main attraction will be seeing four Spanish sides, amongst them Real Madrid facing Gimnastic Manresa FC (2012’s E Class winner) and FC Barcelona against local side Palamos.
Pre MIC, kick started the international competition on Sunday and Monday when Aspire Football Dreams claimed the titles in the A, B and C Class respectively in Banyoles town. Also in Palamos, a clinic run by doctors and physiotherapists and coordinated by MIC took place yesterday. In addition to that, the tournament is seeing the women’s football back after few editions missing. On this occasion, 8 local sides are taking part in it,
Without a doubt one of the greatest things in this MIC’s 15th Edition is the App MICLive which will allow football fans over the world follow all the matches and competitions in real time. Results, line ups and statistics will be available for everyone per second year in a row. This is APP is going to be available either for IOS and Android as well as on the website.
On its 15th Edition MIC is keeping up with its quality in terms of participants as some of the main teams in Europe are represented in some of the categories. Amongst them FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, RCD Espanyol, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Ajax , Internazionale or FC Porto. For first time there is going to be an Indonesian and Dominican Republic side competing.
Throughout the years quite a few players who are now in Europe’s most popular clubs competed at MIC. This is the example of Leo Messi, Neymar, Gerard Piqué, Sergi Busquets, Marc Bartra, Sergi Roberto and Jordi Alba (FC Barcelona), Marcelo Vieira and Lucas Silva (Reial Madrid CF), Cesc Fabregas (Chelsea FC), Lucas Leiva and Coutinho (Liverpool FC), Juan Mata (Manchester United), or Lucas Moura (Paris Saint Germain).
In order to preserve the future of this event MIC and GIrona’s council signed at the end of February a new contract to host the tournament within the Region of Girona-Costa Brava until 2019.
